- discovers an ink blotch on her forearm from last night’s late night diary writing. #
- listens to @johnleach make cereal/serial jokes. is not amused. #
- is presently particularly partial to pickled peppers. #
- has crossed everything off her to-do list for today and @johnleach is making paneer and chickpea curry for tea: double win! #
- had a lovely meal at Cooper’s in Guiseley with Katherine. Had a bad driving lesson before then: better driving backwards than forwards now. #
- dreamt of salty sea dogs. #
- can’t wait to be working in our new office in the new house – craving music and space. #
- reads some comments that don’t help her mood one bit, even though she knows the remarks are just trolling. sigh. #
- feeds the cats a big pile of meat to celebrate it being 10yrs since Carla, Carbon & I adopted each other. Gave a short unappreciated speech. #
- had a surreal 1930s themed trip to the cinema this evening. Probably ate more crap than they did in the 1930s, laughed more too. #
- got “chased” by two horses on the way to the hairdressers – they were running, I wasn’t. i will miss armley. #
- had to bite her tongue several times at the hairdressers. Everyone repeating myths about nutrition, diet & sex education as the truth. sigh. #
- hasn’t done as much work as she should have done this afternoon but nevermind. been a good, busy week all in all. time to sit in the sun. #
- had a lovely day in Harrogate with @johnleach. ate lemon & lime cheesecake and bought binoculars from oxfam & fabric for bunting. #
- can smell the neighbours’ bbqs and now has super-mad bbq cravings. #
- is having to work today because PastLouisa_ was slack on Friday but is getting ahead on some stuff too so FutureLouisa_ likes her tomorrow. #
- has another wonderfully long conversation with @johnleach & @thattommyhall. world not put to rights, just decided everyone is confused. #
Categorylife
The general parent category for most of the things I write about on here.
One of the more interesting Louisa-centric sub-categories is biodata (where I explore my personal history with graphs, maps and whatnot), and if you’re that way inclined, you can read about the wonderful felines and canines with whom I’ve shared my life too.
- woke up feeling perfectly rested this morning. a novel experience. #
- finally gave Recycle This the long, long, awaited redesign that it very much needed. New features to follow. http://www.recyclethis.co.uk/ #
- has a re-pinkened arm after a driving lesson and wonders if having a truckers’ tan will help her pass her test. #
- wonders how she could implement blog-style tags in her offline pen & paper diary for easier categorisation/browsing… any suggestions? #
- thought maybe coloured tabs in specific positions on the side of pages would work – would limit the max. number of tags but that might be ok #
- woke up two minutes before her alarm for the second time in a row this morning, very strange. #
- is too hot to be proactive at the moment. #
- spent the afternoon doing some quite major pruning in the garden. got a blister and very very sticky. showered now and feel ace. #
- is keen to point out at @johnleach was not being euphemistic in this tweet – http://twitter.com/johnleach/status/2007077575 #
- watches a cat trying out different plantpots for size: “this is a little small but the foliage is more cushioning than in the other one”. #
- feels like screaming. #
- wonders which will break first @johnleach or her unicycle. #
- thinks it’ll be both, at the same time, spectacularly. probably a good thing i don’t want to have children too. #
- is glad the afternoon is ending on a high note – some great news after hours and hours of stress. #
- @tim_waters we’ve got an 850W and all the instructions i read are for 800W. perhaps we should swap food. in reply to tim_waters #
- hasn’t drunk nearly enough liquid today. my brain feels like a raisin. #
- is feeling strangely low despite an awesome lunch and it being the weekend tomorrow. swimming this afternoon though. #
- can smell rice. mmm. #
- enjoyed fish & chips with @johnleach in horsforth park last night then went to @thattommyhall’s for tea, wombling & discussion of everything #
- is listening to @johnleach serenading the cooking sausages with his ukelele & falsetto vocals. a day of nothingness awaits, hurrah. #
- is stuffed after a lovely meal at little tokyo. should do something productive this evening but probably won’t. #
(12:14:05) louisa: An ode to our postman, by Louisa J Parry
(12:14:10) louisa: Oh postman, where are you?
(12:14:15) louisa: Where are you, oh postman?
(12:14:19) louisa: You’re usually here by now
(12:14:25) louisa: Giving me the mail for number 11
(12:14:34) louisa: And failing to work our gate
(12:14:44) louisa: But today you’re away
(12:14:48) louisa: Away from here
(12:15:22) louisa: And tears of frustration run down our faces
(12:15:31) louisa: Like cherry blossoms falling from trees in Kyoto
(12:15:40) louisa: Oh postman, where are you?
(12:15:45) louisa: Where are you, oh postman?
(12:15:49) louisa: THE END
(12:16:06) katherine: i’m welling up, that was beautiful. ;)
(12:16:33) louisa: I meant to including the word fucking in there – to be modern and edgy – but i forgot
(12:19:02) katherine: there’s always Ode Two later for that.
(12:19:46) louisa: ODE TWO TO OUR POSTMAN, BY LOUISA J PARRY
(12:19:56) louisa: where the fucking fuck are you, fucking postman?
(12:20:00) louisa: THE END
(12:20:04) katherine: succinct.
Pretty much ever since we launched (How Can I) Recycle This three years ago, I’ve been wanting to redesign it – to freshen it up and to make better use of the available space.
I finally got around to doing it last month and with John’s help, we launched the new design on Sunday (and moved it onto being hosted on Brightbox).
I’ve got loads of ideas for new features – and finally got some space to fit them on the page now. Just got to find the time to implement them now…
- does not appear to have magically improved on the unicycle during its year of rest in the cellar. strange. #
- has been looking through old photos. lots of me as a kid then lots of other people when i got behind the camera at uni. #
- very much enjoyed learning about leatherworking last night – can’t wait to get some tools ourselves and finish our belts :) #
- crosses a bazillion fiddly little things off her to-do list. An evening of sewing and Mexican food awaits. #
- wonders why she always hits the snooze button three times when generally that jarring waking/sleeping is a horrible way to wake up. #
- used to have amazing, elaborate dreams filled with danger and excitement; now i dream of reading letters from the bank. #growingupsucks #
- always gets intrigued when she sees someone change their mind at the garden gate about delivering a leaflet to us: what’s on it!? what?! #
- is feeling anxious about being somewhat behind with things today. Probably just tired. #
- loves it when the cats sleep in plant pots in the garden. so very round, so very furry. #
- discovers she can make @johnleach’s phone bleep by sending twitter tweets #
- @davidsmalley the birds are tweeting? what are their usernames? i want to follow them. ;) in reply to davidsmalley #
- thinks it’s time to go swimming. Also had a frickin’ awesome cross-stitch idea which I shall have to implement this evening. ;) #
- has a sore throat from doing a death metal version of @johnleach’s new Ukepedia.com song (which he shall debut at Barcamp Leeds tomorrow) #
- has been reading in the sunny park with the cats. Now we’re all back in the shady garden cooling off and rehydrating. #
- notices the garden is hyper green like someone fiddled with the colour levels. This side is dark, grass green, the other side almost lime. #
- has calculated how much stuff – furniture, boxes and bags – we’ll have to move over to the new house. It is, precisely, a lot. #
- wishes she hadn’t started looking for a new phone. #
- likes making @johnleach laugh, even if it means her best ever game of Hexic, which was paused while we went to see Star Trek, times out #
- has a sensitive uvula today. #
- can hear @johnleach muttering to himself. #
- thinks she’ll work from bed today. It just feels like one of those days. #
- has booked herself and @johnleach on a leatherworking course at fabrication in leeds next week – should be fun :) #
- welcomes @Threebt to twitter – hi Clare :) #
- is nearly done for the week: another pretty good one. Got some exciting stuff in the pipeline but more importantly, curry tonight, woo! :) #
- had an awesome curry. Can’t wait until we live nearer :) #
- went to Southport & Crosby yesterday. Ate an ice cream with Andrew Gormley’s men on the beach then fish with mum & dad at The Forge. #
- meant Antony Gormley, obviously. Was thinking of @sugarquay and mistyped ;) #
- has spent the day tidying the garden and being clumsy. sometimes both at the same time. #
